76 QUEEN STREET
a private guest house
“To sleep, perchance to dream."
Welcome to a place of rest and pamper mere steps away from the Stratford Festival’s, Festival Theatre. Whether from distances great or near, 76 Queen Street graciously awaits your arrival. Enjoy the oasis of privacy amid busy theatre-goers hustling to and from, chattering of their anticipation or expounding their definitive review. All the while, this historically designated, elegant 1884 Victorian home will be your home during your Stratford stay.
While you explore and experience some of the finest theatre in the world: the lectures and papers of The Forum, the eateries, the shops, the gardens, the antiquing, the spas, and secret places only you will know about - we look after the rest.
For over 30 years the guest house at 76 Queen Street has been the chosen sanctuary for discerning pilgrims in search of The Bard and delights yet to be discovered. Hosts, Larry and Raad, along with the feline denizen Samantha, oversee myriad details to ensure a rewarding experience. From our front door, your Stratford adventure begins with a two-minute walk to the Festival, eight-minute walk to the Tom Patterson Theatre, and a 15-minute walk to the Avon/Studio Theatres.

Good morning! While you gently enter a new Stratford day, to be sure filled with delights for both eye and ear, the coffee’s on and waiting for you. The kitchen is very sensitive to dietary issues and likes to know in advance adjusting menus accordingly. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30 with an eye to getting guests to the morning Forum event. Depending on weather, numbers and other considerations, breakfast is usually served in the dinning room, but sometimes on the front veranda or on the garden deck.
After breakfast, guests head out to their morning agenda or settle in on the front veranda with newspapers, or to begin a fresh chapter. For many, the veranda is the treasure of 76 Queen. The veranda stands guard providing an old world feel of antebellum with wicker, greenery and genteel comfort. As the sun moves over the yardarm, thirsts on the veranda tend to advance to those requiring a corkscrew to access. We have the corkscrew...
Guests often arrive with wine and nibbles. A bar fridge is available to keep your treasured cheeses and whites cold and fresh.
Important Dietary Information
We are keen to present a superb breakfast each morning of your stay. Please take care to let the kitchen know of any dietary sensitivities that can be accommodated. We do our best to facilitate vegan, lactose, and celiac requests. Our kitchen is meticulously kept and kosher friendly, but not strictly kosher.
We have a list of local specialty delicatessens that are recommended to provide ready-to-go picnics. Please be mindful that the swans will come and visit, but people food is very bad for them. If you have a favourite swan who has adopted you, corn is available at the boathouse.
Many guests are more than happy to make their own dinner reservations, but we are often asked to choose and book on their behalf. We keep tabs on which restaurants are ‘in vogue’ this season and what’s new.
